January 27, 2015
I can’t believe that January of 2015 is coming to an end! I hope you are all doing well and having a productive school year. On behalf of the PTA Executive Board, I want to thank all of the parents and staff that came to Cultural Night in December. It was a wonderful evening together and a nice way to celebrate the diversity in our school. I want to thank the parents who donated all of the delicious food and desserts and The Aguilar family for donating some of the baskets raffled. I especially want to thank Helen Pappageorge for helping the team to prepare for the event and for acquiring so many donations, including the television. The raffles were an incredible success raising $1,232! Thank you all for your support. We truly appreciate it. With some of this money, the PTA executive board is planning a fun event for our families at PS255. Stay tuned for an invitation to a “Spring Fling” in March!
The school depends, in great part, on parent involvement. At this time, I ask you to consider making yourself part of the school’s parent leadership teams. Our involvement not only effects our own children, but it can affect the success of every child that attends PS255. Become involved and you can become an advocate and a voice for all of our children. I know it seems distant, but in May we will be having elections for all positions of the PTA Executive Board and we will be needing parents for the SLT (School Leadership Team). Please consider participating and becoming involved, it can make a difference.
During our February meeting (2/12/15), we will be holding elections for the Secretary position of the PTA Executive Board. You can contact me for any information regarding the position. The Secretary is an important member of the team. He/She is responsible for recording all minutes during meetings. In addition, we ask if you can participate in helping to plan events and fundraisers. Teamwork is crucial in making any event a success, and we will appreciate any help that you can give! Personally, it’s been incredible being President of the team. I’ve made good friends and learned a lot about how better to advocate for my children. If you are interested in running for the position, please email Emily Taylor at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
We truly appreciate your continued support and participation. We look forward to seeing you all at our upcoming meetings and events.
