Both the students and staff from PS/IS 128 and P255Q are so excited to be spending time together! A few months ago, we conducted some sensitivity training with the 8th grade students from PS/IS 128. After visiting the classrooms and interacting with the students, the 8th graders formed a committee and came up with some wonderful ideas on how to increase positive interactions between both schools under one roof. We worked together to create some wonderful opportunities to collaborate and are so excited to continue doing so!
One of our events was a Valentine’s Day Lollipop Sale. Students from P255Q brought the school store into the cafeteria and sold lollipops to the 8th graders from PS/IS 128. The sale was just as much of a success as the smiles on the students faces!
That same week, we had a special event for Valentines Day organized by the APE teacher, Ms. Kristy and ADL teacher Ms. Vanessa. All of the staff chipped in to make it an exciting and fun day for our students. We all enjoyed having our new buddies from PS/IS 128 come and celebrate with us that day! The buddies had just as much of a good time as our students did, here are the letters to prove it.
Every time it is one of our students birthdays, the students from PS/IS 128 will serenade them in the hallway to a happy birthday tune. It is a beautiful tribute to our students and demonstrates the impact we are having on one another here. Looking forward to many more events together in the future!
