Our theme for summer school this year was summer camp. As a culminating event, the staff thought simulated camping activities would not only be fun and engaging, but would be a perfect way for the students to experience what they had been learning about throughout July and August.
Campsite: We were going for a traditional campsite experience. The students made S’mores (no flame necessary-we used marshmallow fluff and chocolate spread). Speech teachers created visuals to help the students prepare their snacks. Next, the students sat around a “campfire” to sing songs and tell stories. Finally, we had a campground photo booth for some great photo ops.
Our hiking course was put together by the OT / PT Department. What summer camp experience is complete without a good hike!
Last, but not least, we created a Water Park at our playground, with the help of our OT / PT Department. What better way to spend a sunny day than splashing around with your friends?
Staff members, students and special guests enjoyed our Summer Camp at P 255Q @ PS 154! We can’t wait for next summer to do it all over again!
