We’ve had a lot of fun at our holiday celebrations at all of our sites. Some of our parents came to make holiday crafts. We had lively sing-alongs. A very special visitor came to all of our sites. Here are some of the highlights.
The Parent Support Group welcomed parents and guardians from across the eight sites to come together and take some well deserved time for themselves during this busy month. Families were able to create a fun festive craft while chatting, getting to know each other and sharing some treats. It was a great morning! Our next daytime Parent Support group will be on January 8th, 2019 and the next evening Sibling Support group will be on January 16th, 2019. All are welcomed!
Two of our very talented students, Yusuf Sayedy and Alexandra Martinez-Narcia’s artwork was selected for the 2019 VSA NYC Calendar by Marquis Studios. Marquis Studios is an arts education organization that publishes a calendar every year to feature the work of our most talented student artists.
On Dec. 5th our students went to receive their awards at the Annual VSA NYC Ceremony in New York City. Many NYC Council Members were honored for their funding to support arts programs in District 75 schools. Yusef and Alexandra were supported by our amazing Art teacher, Mrs. Wendy Schwerdt. Well Done!
Their winning artwork was exhibited in the Pratt Manhattan Gallery in an exhibit entitled” Community Heroes and Helpers”. Collaborating on this project not only fostered our students artistic growth, but also allowed them to share ideas about people in our community who work hard to protect our environment. As you can see, Yusuf and Alexandra are very proud of themselves!
Everyone had a great time at our “Winter Wonderland Dance”
