Big news! From September 2017, P255 @ 151 will be housed in Q397 building in Astoria. http://council.nyc.gov/costa-constantinides/2017/03/13/officials-announce-removal-of-trailers-from-ps-151-playground/ We think this will be a great move for all of our students.
P255 @ 151Q was located in Woodside, NY. There were seventeen elementary age classrooms: one integrated preschool class, one 8:1:1, and fourteen 6:1:1 classes at P151. This site also offered the following cluster classes: APE, Art, Creative Arts, Literacy as well as Social Studies. Teachers utilize the following enrichment programs: Math Attainment, SMiLE Reading Program, Gallop, GRTL, Activity Works, and TV Teacher. Our site also offers both a Boys Club and Girls Club to promote leadership, friendship, and communication skills. There is also a children’s garden available to students.
We utilize the principles of the TEACCH, or structured teaching, in our classrooms. Structured teaching is a framework that helps support achievement of educational and therapeutic goals through the use of workstations, individual student schedules, visual materials used in tasks and activities, and an organized physical structure of the classroom.

Here are some of our special programs and clubs:
Children’s Sensory Garden
At P255 @ 151Q we have a Children’s Sensory Garden that was started in 2009.
Every year the students plant and maintain their garden. It is also used for various activities during the school year, such as scarecrow contest, pumpkin patch, and egg hunts for the students. Classes go out and use it for plant study and storytime.
It is a wonderful multisensory experience for our students that they really enjoy!
Gallop is a therapeutic horsemanship program for children with disabilities. Students are directed by a PATH International certified instructor and supported by trained volunteers. Each rider progressively acquires riding skills and measurable improvements in life skills. Each student progresses at their own level and really have come to enjoy the program!
At our site we also have the Girls Club and a Boys Club .
